The Country

214 Hectares of Intact
Nandewar Wilderness

Spion Kop Hunting Range sits in the rugged foothills of the Nandewar Ranges in northern New South Wales — a landscape of steep basalt ridgelines, rocky gorges, cliff faces and dense native cypress pine and ironbark scrub. This is country that has never been farmed, fenced or cleared.

The terrain is demanding and the hunting is honest. No managed paddocks, no feeders, no guaranteed harvest. 214 hectares of intact native bush carrying the wild character that comes from decades of zero human interference.

From the ridgelines, views extend across uninhabited country in every direction. The Nandewar region is one of the darkest sky areas in Australia. Self-contained camping within the property boundary. Bowhunting only — the terrain was built for it.

Why This Country

Built for the Bowhunter

01
Natural Pinch Points
Cliff faces, rock outcrops and steep gorges force game through predictable corridors and saddles. A patient hunter positioned correctly will have animals inside 20 metres — exactly the range the bow was made for.
02
Dense Stalking Cover
The cypress pine and ironbark understorey provides exceptional cover for the moving hunter. The terrain rewards skill and fieldcraft over distance — exactly the challenge that drives serious bowhunters to seek out country like this.
03
Ridgeline Ambush
Goats are creatures of habit in ridge country. They follow the same trails between feeding areas and cliff refuges, particularly in the morning and late afternoon. High positions give early visibility across multiple approach routes.
04
Gully Game
The gully systems and drainage lines cutting through the property are prime pig and deer country. The broken terrain keeps distances short and the hunting tight — ideal conditions for the bow.
05
Water Point Hunting
Installed water points at key gully locations create predictable ambush opportunities through the dry months. Game will find water consistently — and so will the prepared hunter.
06
Unhunted Ground
This country has never been commercially hunted. Every encounter is with wild, unhabituated animals — not the conditioned behaviour found on overhunted properties. Every chance is earned.
Game Species

Target Species

Feral Goat
Capra hircus

Rocky ridgelines and cliff faces are classic goat country. The terrain creates natural stalking corridors and dense scrub allows close approach. April breeding season is the peak window.

Feral Pig
Sus scrofa

Gully systems and drainage lines provide classic pig habitat. Most active from late afternoon. The broken, scrubby terrain keeps shots tight and the hunting close.

Deer
Cervus / Dama spp.

The Nandewar Range foothills provide the forest density, elevation change and seclusion that deer favour. Early mornings on ridge edges and gully heads offer the best opportunity.

Fox
Vulpes vulpes

Present throughout the property, active across ridgelines and gully systems. Particularly mobile early morning and at dusk. A consistent secondary target on any day afield.

Rabbit & Hare
Oryctolagus / Lepus

Rocky terrain with native grass understorey provides ideal habitat. A productive target between larger game encounters and excellent for sharpening close-range stalking skills.
